Guide for Manure Removal Belt Systems Daily Use and Maintenance in Poultry Farms

2025-09-05

     Abstract:

Manure belts are an indispensable piece of equipment in poultry farms, responsible for removing chicken manure and transporting it to designated locations to ensure a clean and hygienic farming environment. To guarantee the efficient and long-lasting operation of the manure conveyor belt system, regular inspection and maintenance are crucial. This article provides a guide for the daily use and maintenance of manure removal belt systems, helping farm operators understand and master the operational standards for poultry manure belts.

Key Points for Daily Use of the Manure Removal Belt System:

     1.Longitudinal Manure Removal Belt

  • Cleaning Frequency: Perform longitudinal manure removal belt at least once daily.
  • Scraper Maintenance: Clean the triangular scrapers at both ends and the trough scrapers daily to ensure no feathers or manure accumulate between the scrapers and the manure conveyor belt.
  • Adjust Scrapers: Tighten the rear scraper to eliminate gaps between the scraper and roller, preventing manure residue.
  • Monitor Belt Misalignment: Continuously check for manure belt deviation during operation. Adjust immediately if deviation exceeds 15mm.
  • Inspect Belt Condition: Examine the manure conveyor belt for damage or cracks. Repair any issues promptly.

2.Horizontal and Diagonal Manure Removal Belts

  • Manure Removal Belt Frequency: Clean at least once daily, activating the horizontal manure belt before the diagonal manure belt.
  • Inspect Scrapers: Verify proper operation of belt-type manure scrapers. Remove any foreign objects to prevent jamming or blockages.
  • External Cleaning: Ensure outdoor sloped manure trenches are covered to shield them from rain. Prevent rainwater from mixing with chicken manure to avoid contamination.

Daily Maintenance Guide for Manure Conveyor Belt Systems:

     1.Cleaning and Inspection

  • Daily Inspection: Check the operational status of the manure scraper belt daily to ensure no abnormal wear on the scraper blades, pulleys, bearings, etc.
  • Cleaning Accumulated Debris: Regularly remove feathers, manure, and other debris from the poultry manure belt to prevent interference with belt operation.

     2.Adjustment and Tightening

  • Tension Adjustment: Inspect and adjust the tension spring at the rear scraper to ensure no gap exists between the scraper and roller.
  • Alignment Adjustment: Promptly correct manure removal belt misalignment to prevent deviation.
  • Belt Tension: Periodically check manure conveyor belt tension to avoid damage from excessive slack or tightness.

     3.Preventing Foreign Object Entry

  • Foreign Object Prevention: Strictly prohibit entry of hard objects like wire or bolts into the manure belt system with chicken droppings to prevent equipment damage.

     4.Maintenance in Low-Temperature Environments

  • Low-Temperature Adjustment: When ambient temperature falls below 15°C (59°F), appropriately adjust the front manure belt ratchet shaft to reduce belt tension. This prevents cage frame deformation caused by excessive manure conveyor belt tightness.

Actionable On-Site Safety and Quality Key Points:

  • Strictly prohibit hard objects from entering between the rear scraper and drive wheel with manure.
  • Ensure the manure barrier curtain is closed before cleaning and open it afterward to promote ventilation.
  • Immediately shut down the equipment for inspection upon detecting abnormal noises, odors, or vibrations.
  • Use qualified, undamaged spare parts (scrapers, bearings, transmission components); maintain regular maintenance logs.
